SIAM

SIAM, Sediment Impact Analysis Methods, simulates the movement of sediment through a drainage network to estimate the impact of sediment dynamics on channel morphology.  Using principles of sediment continuity and channel response, SIAM links basin wide processes to perform a trend analysis on a river system identifying the current state as well as the direction and magnitude of potential adjustments in both short and long term time frames. The model was developed to accommodate large basins, incorporate sediment sources, and prescribe rehabilitation alternatives using a system perspective. Potential uses include:
