Swanton Sector’s Challenge Coin
(12/26/2007)Front: The Border Patrol badge is outlined with the names of the three states that comprise Swanton Sector: New York to the West, Vermont in the middle, New Hampshire to the east. Their location on the coin coincides with their geographic location. Back: The Maple tree is perhaps one of the most defining characteristics of the northeast; its magnificent fall colors and majestic prominence compliment it’s annual yield of Maple sap. A familiar springtime sight all across the North Country is sap buckets affixed to the Maples and the “sugar houses” spewing thick clouds of sweet smelling steam. The Maple trees represent our roots to the past; its branches are reaching out to embrace our future. The windows of the shack look out upon the world and represent our vigilance. Alert at all times, the Cougar (Which has been sighted recently in the North Country), represents our technology. It is always there, always ready but not always seen. The circular coin has no end; it is a continuous line that demonstrates our never-ending commitment to our mission of protecting America. |
