SECOND
FUGITIVE WANTED FOR NEVADA MURDER ARRESTED IN
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA
A
man wanted for murder in Henderson, Nevada, was located and
arrested Wednesday in San Bernardino, California, announced
J. Stephen Tidwell, Assistant Director in Charge of the FBI
in Los Angeles.
Timothy
Burnside, 26, was arrested by members of the FBI's Inland Regional
Apprehension Team (IRAT). Burnside and his alleged accomplice,
Derrick McKnight, 28, were charged in the state of Nevada with
murder, robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit
robbery, in connection with the murder of Kenneth Hardwick in
Henderson, Nevada. Last month, McKnight was arrested by members
of the FBI's Los Angeles Fugitive Task Force at a bus station
in Claremont, California.
On
December 5, 2006, victim Kenneth Hardwick, 45, was allegedly
murdered during a robbery attempt by Burnside and McKnight.
Hardwick had been waiting to order at a fast food restaurant
drive-through window.
Based
on the state charges, a federal warrant filed in U.S. District
Court in Las Vegas was obtained in February 2007, charging McKnight
and Burnside with Unlawful Flight to Avoid Prosecution (UFAP).
Recent
investigation led to Burnside's approximate whereabouts in California
and he was located and taken into custody on June 13, 2007.
It
is anticipated that the federal government will dismiss the
federal warrant charging Burnside and that he will be transported
from San Bernardino County to Nevada by detectives with the
Henderson Police Department to face prosecution.
The
arrest of Burnside is a result of a joint effort by the FBI's
Inland Regional Apprehension Team, which includes members from
the FBI, Riverside Police Department, San Bernardino Police
Department and the Riverside County Sheriff's Department; the
FBI's Criminal Apprehension Team in Las Vegas; and the Henderson,
Nevada, Police Department.
