Thyone deichmannae(158243)

Image of the creature

Holothuroideans, or sea cucumbers, are the deepest burrowers of all the echinoderms at Gray's Reef (as you may have expected, they are very important bioturbators). They are primarily deposit feeders, and may burrow up to 50 cm beneath the sediment surface while feeding. They are also familiar as epifauna, and unlike numerous other members of this category, are generally unpalatable to fish.
