LMC-Section on Protein Chemistry, Enzymology, and Molecular Biology (PCEMB)

Mission Statement:

This section uses the techniques of protein chemistry, enzymology and molecular biology to isolate and define the transcription factors controlling the development of obesity, insulin resistance and fatty liver.  It defines the factors controlling the action of transcription factors which alter the proteins of the metabolic pathways associated with disease phenotypes and searches for methods to regulate the effects of these transcription factors so as to ameliorate the disease phenotype.
