Hidalgo, Texas — Border Patrol agents assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Sector arrested an individual with an outstanding warrant of arrest for murder out of Orlando, Fla. The subject will be extradited to face charges.

The arrest occurred yesterday, when agents assigned to the McAllen Border Patrol Station responded to suspicious activity in Hidalgo, Tex. Upon arriving, agents encountered a subject hiding in the brush near the river. Agents questioned the subject, who identified himself as a United States citizen born in Puerto Rico. Due to the circumstances surrounding the encounter, the agents detained the subject and transported him to the McAllen Border Patrol Station for verification purposes. During processing, the subject’s fingerprints were submitted into the Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System. Record checks revealed that the subject was not a United States citizen as he originally claimed, but rather he was a forty-seven year old Cuban national with an outstanding warrant of arrest out of Orlando, Fla. for “Murder”.

The Cuban national will be turned over to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Department pending extradition to Orlando, Fla.

To report suspicious activity, contact the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol sectors’ toll free telephone number at 1-800-863-9382.
