CBP Officers Apprehend Wanted Individuals in Boston

contacts for this news releaseBoston - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers assigned to Logan International Airport apprehended four wanted individuals during the last week for various crimes ranging from narcotics distribution to operating a vehicle after the revocation of their driver’s license.During routine inspections of these persons to determine their eligibility to enter the United States, they were determined to have outstanding warrants of arrest. In each instance the individuals were turned over to Massachusetts State Police.“CBP processes approximately 1.5 million passengers daily throughout the United States. CBP officers must remain vigilant at all times in protecting our borders from terrorists and weapons of terror.” said Director of Field Operations Steven J. Farquharson. “During routine processing of individuals a variety of violations can be uncovered as well as identifying and apprehending passengers wanted for various crimes.”CBP Field Operations is responsible for inspecting international passengers and cargo arriving at United States ports of entry. Their mission also includes carrying out a variety of border-related responsibilities, including narcotics interdiction, enforcing immigration law, and protecting the nation’s food supply and agriculture industry from pests and diseases.U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry.
