Expeditious Adjudication of Investor/Trader (E) Visas

Over 60% of all E visa applicants request expeditious adjudication. We obviously cannot honor anything close to this number of requests. All qualifying E visa applicants have valid and compelling business reasons to engage in their economic activity as soon as possible. For this reason, we cannot expeditiously adjudicate E visas for economic reasons alone. Rather, we reserve expeditious adjudication for the following reasons:

  1. Humanitarian, such as the death or illness of a family member.
  2. Public interest, of greater national security, safety or humanitarian benefit to the U.S. as a whole.

The Department of State, unlike the Department of Homeland Security, has no means to offer premium processing for an additional fee.

How to request expedited processing:

  1. ASK CLEARLY. Submit a ONE PAGE request at the VERY TOP of your initial application ONE TIME ONLY. Title it "REQUEST FOR EXPEDITIOUS ADJUDICATION" in large, bold type. If your request is not the first page, we will not see it. In no more than one page you must explain which one of the two above grounds (Humanitarian or Public Interest) applies. Then attach supporting documents to validate your request. Save your requests for the truly worthy applications. Please understand that we do not have time for a reclama process.
  2. DON'T CALL US, WE WILL EMAIL YOU. Do not telephone or email us to request or inquire. Answering many "status check" calls uses precious time that is better put to use in adjudicating complete, timely and well prepared applications that are before us in good order.
  3. BE JUDICIOUS. Please do not submit requests that are outside of the above parameters. Each request must be reviewed by a consular officer, taking precious time away from all visa adjudication. We expect to expeditiously adjudicate less than 5% of all applications.
  4. ASSUME THAT YOUR APPLICATION WILL BE EFFICIENTLY PROCESSED IN THE NORMAL MANNER, IN THE ORDER THAT IT IS RECEIVED IN GOOD ORDER. Do not expect expeditious processing. We will only inform those applicants by email approved for expeditious processing.
