2.5 Solid-state radiochemistry

Performance of radiochemistry on solid supports, rather than in homogeneous solution, has potential to provide several advantages, including ease of separation of the trace radioactive product from bulk precursor and other impurities. This approach was explored in the synthesis of no-carrier-added (NCA) [carbonyl-11C]amides from [carboxyl-11C]acids with a polymer-supported carbodiimide under microwave conditions.44
