I am writing to petition the FAA on behalf of Kent State University Flight Operations for an exemption from title 14 Code of Federal Regulations paragraph 135.1(a)(5) and (c), 135.251, 135.255, 135.353, and Appendices I and J to part 121. The purpose of this exemption would permit KSU to conduct local sightseeing flights in the vicinety ot Stow, Ohio for its community Aviatiion Day on September 6th and 7, 2003 without comlying with certain anti-drug and alchol misuse preventiion requirements of part 135. Aviation Dayis a two -day event that occurs at the Kent Stae University Airport. Aviation Day promotes General Aviation among neighboring communities and we like to use this as an opportunity to give sightseeing flights. This year will mark the seventh Aviation Day at KSU. We offer airplane rides for the benifit of the Kent State Flight Team, a member of the Natiional Intercollegiate Flying Association (NIFA). We plan to offer these rides on Saturday September 6th and Sunday September 7th 2003. All of our flights are conducted by Certificated Flight Instructors that are employed by KSU. While requesting an exemption from the above regulations, we will comply with 14 C.F.R. 135.249 and 135.253. Please consider offering KSU exemptions from the anti-drug and alchol misuse preventiion requirements of part 135.
