Lebo&atory, mm, St. Albans, L.I. 1 Feb. 1944. My dear Dr. Keller: This ia to let you know of some good (?) news that haa just befallen me. BuPers has honored my request for trensfer bnok to Columbia and I have just received my orders to report there for Term III. So St. Albans, wp/1/1, hes been 0 not unpleasant vacation in all. Speaking to Mr. Van Dyke over the phone I got the impression that action of a fevorable sort had been taken by the Director of Qualifying Certlflca$es. Is this the (~a88 to your knowledge. It would be rather amusing if this were the uase, for probably the main reason that I em being trensferred beck is the doubt and oonfusion over my English requirements which I mehtioned in nq~ request , Incid&ntslly this is about the fnstest work that I have seen the Navy Dept. (Vashington) do. I put my signature to that transfer request on about the 2lst January, From there it had to go the the Medloal Offfcer In Command here at the hospital, and then to the Bureau of Naval Personnel, Training' Dlvison, V-12 Dept. It must have shuttled back and forth in the Bu Med & Surg (BuMandS) for some time thereafter, But anyhow It we8 only ten days before these orders oeme through. Hoping to see you soon, Joshua. P.S. The idea of going back to ~11 those books: 53 miles of bookshelf, even, does tel-rify me c! little bit after the morally easy life here. I've just begun to appreciate what a grind school is. 0 Pm. ' Pegords to everyone.
