PERMIAN UNIONS OPPOSE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION
RULING TO WEAKEN "MADE IN USA LABEL"

The Permian Basin Central Labor has voted to oppose a proposed ruling by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to no longer restrict use of the "Made in U.S.A." label to products and advertisements for merchandise with "all or virtually all" U.S. parts and labor it was announced by D. L. Willis, president of the Central Labor Body.

According to Willis, currently consumers can be confident that "Made in U.S.A." means "all or virtually all" domestic parts and labor are made in this country. To permit less than that would be to perpetrate a fraud on the American public and open wider the door to U.S. jobs being moved overseas. We have had enough job losses under NAFTA and this proposed ruling by the Federal Trade Commission would only excellerate lower wages and job losses.

Permian Basin organized labor is urging all union members and the public to contact their U.S. Senators, Representatives, the White House, and the FTC and request they oppose this proposed ruling by the FTC.
