Expected Acknowledgements through
Publishing Results from BT-1

It is expected that publications arising from guest researcher experiments, i.e., those publications that do not have an author at the NIST Center for Neutron Research, will include the following acknowledgement:

"We acknowledge the support of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, U. S. Department of Commerce, in providing the neutron research facilities used in this work."

It is very important that all publications containing experimental results from data collected at BT-1 be cited in the NIST Center for Neutron Research annual report. For publications that do not involve a coauthor at the NCNR, please be sure to send the citation information for your publication (reprints and preprints are appreciated) by e-mail (ncnraccess@nist.gov), fax (301-975-2351), or post to:

         Julie Keyser / Mary-Ann Fitzgerald
         NIST Center for Neutron Research
National Institute of Standards and Technology
         100 Bureau Drive Stop 8560
         Gaithersburg, MD 20899-8560

Publications that have a NCNR coauthor will be automatically cataloged as part of our internal WERB review process.

Note that the BT-1 diffractometer can be operated in many different modes; select the paragraph below appropriate to your data collection conditions (this information is recorded in your data files). Also, note that the wavelength values below are from the calibrations performed in January 2008. Check your data file for the calibration value appropriate for when your data were collected. You should also note the sample environment, e.g.:

The sample was loaded in a vanadium can sample container of length 50 mm and diameter XX (see below) mm. Data were collected under ambient conditions.

The sample was sealed in a vanadium container of length 50 mm and diameter XX (see below) mm inside a dry He-filled glovebox. A closed-cycle He refrigerator was used for temperature control.

Ge(311)/15'

Neutron powder diffraction data were collected using the BT-1 32 detector neutron powder diffractometer at the NCNR, NBSR. A Ge(311) monochromator with a 75° take-off angle, lambda = 2.0787(2) Å, and in-pile collimation of 15 minutes of arc were used. Data were collected over the range of 1.3-166.3° 2-Theta with a step size of 0.05°. The instrument is described in the NCNR WWW site (http://www.ncnr.nist.gov/)

Ge(311)/7'

Neutron powder diffraction data were collected using the BT-1 32 detector neutron powder diffractometer at the NCNR, NBSR. A Ge(311) monochromator with a 75° take-off angle, lambda = 2.0787(2) Å, and in-pile collimation of 7 minutes of arc were used. Data were collected over the range of 1.3-166.3° 2-Theta with a step size of 0.05°. The instrument is described in the NCNR WWW site (http://www.ncnr.nist.gov/)

Cu(311)/15'

Neutron powder diffraction data were collected using the BT-1 32 detector neutron powder diffractometer at the NCNR, NBSR. A Cu(311) monochromator with a 90° take-off angle, lambda = 1.5403(2) Å, and in-pile collimation of 15 minutes of arc were used. Data were collected over the range of 3-168° 2-Theta with a step size of 0.05°. The instrument is described in the NCNR WWW site (http://www.ncnr.nist.gov/)
