Anthropologists examine various nasal features as well as others features in skulls to determine the ancestry of the person. The nasal features may offer the following ancestry characteristics:

Determining ancestry from skeletal remains is a difficult task, and it is becoming more and more complicated as interracial mixing becomes more common. Therefore anthropologists examine numerous characteristics and analyze both the visual features and mathematical measurements of a skull before forming their conclusions.
