Announcements:

	Done with long contacts.  From now on, will have 8+1.5=9.5 hr long
	contacts.

FOT Report

	Uneventful night for S/C

	Completed tape recorder commissioning

	Set values of off pointing flags to

		30 arcsec roll
		1 arcsec pitch/yaw

	and tripped within 2 hrs.  Reset to 

		40 arcsec roll
		2 arcsec pitch/yaw

	and hasn't tripped yet.  This flag is for use by the instruments; it
	has no effect on the S/C.

	MCC2 may occur on the 5th of January.

	Patch for POCC worked

	SOTA has 3 days left

	Request for short contacts during Xmas sent out.

	Did all planned activities

Flight Dynamics report

	There was a report on SOHO Attitude and Momentum Management.  Slides
	will be distributed to the PI teams.  In the slides, roll is measured
	relative to ecliptic north.

	Star magnitude typically within 0.1 mag of catalog.

CELIAS
	CETOF switched on successfully
	Detector has 10 cts/sec background rad., which is O.K.
	Temperature elevated by 5deg, which is O.K.
	Reference temperature is 8deg, should be 0-5
	In bakeout phase

Comment from SOTA

	Should be exchange of papers between FOT and SOTA

MDI

	Opened front door for first time
	4deg temp increase, more than expected
	Took first light picture
	Pointing is good.  Offset by 1,2 arcmin.  Will correct today
	Initial checks from focus indicates toward one end rather than middle.
	May be a temperature affect.
	Shutter seemed to stick at first
	Data seen in Palo Alto at same time

SUMER
	Rear slit camera primary goal (pointing) achievable without resolution.
	Commisioned all mechanisms.

LASCO
	Opened all 3 doors for outgassing
	Doing software upload today

UVCS
	Activities postponed because adjusting door apertures
	Review mechanism procedures
	Next is unlocking mechanisms

	Perturbations:

	1st maneuver	Roll	+/- 10 arcsec
			Pitch	+/- 0.4 arcsec (1 Hz)
			Yaw	+/- 0.4 arcsec (1 Hz)

	2nd maneuver	Roll	+/- 15 arcsec
			Pitch	+0.4/-0.2 arcsec (1 Hz)
			Yaw	+/- 0.3 arcsec (1 Hz)

	Rate was 20 deg/min.  Nominal is 10.  Current lowest rate is 5.

SWAN
	Completed coarse pointing activities
	Need to calibrate pointing
	Instrument working perfectly
	Anomaly: Time tag jumped back to Nov 25th.  One bit was reset.  Cause
	is unknown

ERNE
	No change

COSTEP
	Saw reduction in bg after MDI door opening.  Faint reflection from MDI
	door.

Issues

	ESA/MATRA wants impact of Xmas activities on S/C

	C StCyr wants status of lost command problem from CMS.  CMS on
	furlough.

	ECS software had problems.  Some instruments need to restart their
	software.

	Telemetry reformatting software not working well.  Need patch to make
	it more automatic.

	Problem with people going into closet and ECS drawers.

	Experimenters need to determine when they need dedicated time

Clarification from SUMER

	If SUMER gets ESR during bakeout period, then will not close doors.
	Otherwise, would get too hot.
