Information to Bidders- Furlough & Bid Confirmation Reports

In the event of a partial federal government shutdown, the MDS and SMR auctions will continue
as scheduled.  The Auctions Division of the FCC is exempt from the shutdown.  During a
possible government shutdown, the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau and Mass Media
Bureau reference rooms will be open for auction related research only.  Filings for auction
related matters with the Secretary's Office will be accepted in the lobby of 1919 M St. N.W.  ITS
and Technical Support will be operating as usual. The Auction hotline and Office of Public
Affairs telephones will not be answered, and all auctions-related calls will be referred to the

Recently, there has been some confusion regarding electronic bid submission.  After entering
their bids, bidders must press the Submit Button and see a message acknowledging that the bids
have been successfully submitted.  Otherwise, any bids entered will not be submitted and will not
be received by the FCC. 

Afterwards, bidders can obtain proof of bid submission by printing a bid submission
confirmation report.  If there is any question about bids submitted electronically, this report will
be necessary to verify what bids were submitted.

In addition, we remind bidders to check for auction announcements daily.  It is essential that
bidders keep advised of any changes or announcements issued by the FCC.
