Alligator Application

Dear Trapper:

Enclosed is the list of refuge alligator trapping qualifications and the 2-page application that you requested. The April 14th drawing will be for a permit that will be good through the 2004 -2006 alligator seasons.

You will be responsible for your alligators. You may sell whole or skinned. All proceeds from the sale of alligators must be reported and included in the share due to the government. It will be to your advantage to get several competitive bids before selling. All alligators must be sold at or above fair market value.

Selected trappers and alternates will have background checks and application information checked. If you are disqualified, you will be notified and the reason or reasons stated. False or unverifiable information will disqualify applicants.

The drawing will be held on April 14, 2004 at the Cameron Parish Police Jury Building at 10:00 am. Applicants are welcome to attend, but you do not have to be present to be selected. The number of trapping permits available are Cameron Prairie NWR - 1, Lacassine NWR - 5, and Sabine NWR - 10. You will be issued only one National Wildlife Refuge trapping permit.

Applications must be received by one of the refuges listed above by 4:00 pm, March 26, 2004 to qualify for the drawing. If you have any questions contact me at 337-598-2216 or steve_reagan@fws.gov.

Sincerely,
Steve Reagan
