With a little effort, it
is possible to make a needle and thread. Cut an agave
leaf off the plant, remove the hooks on the side of the leaf, but do not cut
the spine off the tip. Carefully pound the leaf with a rock, scrape off the
outer green layer, and twist the fibers into string. The needle can be used
as is, or cotton or yucca cordage can be spliced
onto the end. It is quite sharp, so be careful!
