Symposium recognizes Lab student research

Past, present and future

Laboratory Director Mike Anastasio talks with student Maria Castro of Subatomic Physics (P-25), her mentor, Gerd Kunde also of P-25, and Laboratory Fellow Frank Harlow at the annual Student Symposium awards banquet at University of New Mexico, Los Alamos. Anastasio thanked students and mentors for their work at Los Alamos. Harlow, a guest scientist in Theoretical (T) Division and 2004 Los Medal recipient, gave the keynote talk at the symposium awards banquet. New Students' Association officers also were named: Jake Meadows of Water Quality and RCRA (ENV-RCRA) is chairperson; Kitty Cha of the Center for Integrated Nanotechnologies (MPA-CINT) is vice-chairperson; Emily Schultz of Environmental Geology and Spatial Analysis (EES-9) is secretary; and Rachel Condi of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology (B-1) is treasurer.
