The Kauffman Foundation sees the creation and distribution of data sets on entrepreneurship and innovation as a critical aspect of our efforts to foster a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship and to catalyze entrepreneurial success. The symposium will feature new data sets supported by the Kauffman Foundation, including the Integrated Longitudinal Business Database at the Census Bureau, the Kauffman Firm Survey, and the Panel Study on Entrepreneurial Dynamics II. In addition, newly updated data sets such as the National Bureau of Economic Research Patent Database will be discussed. If you or your organization has a data set that is new, recently made available or in progress that you would like us to consider for inclusion in the 2007 Kauffman Symposium on Entrepreneurship and Innovation Data, please contact E.J. Reedy at ereedy@kauffman.org by March 31, 2007. The report is available in the main workshop page http://www.nsf.gov/statistics/workshop/innovation06/ and also at http://www.nsf.gov/statistics/nsf07306/. We are also organizing a special issue of the Journal of Technology Transfer based on workshop (and related) papers. Among recent activities since our workshop, SRS supported a workshop on uses of Human Resources Data, organized by Prof. Paula Stephan (papers at http://www2.gsu.edu/~ecopes/SRSprogram.htm). We also held a technical conference on the R&D NIPA Satellite Account ( http://www.bea.gov/bea/rd/govt_conf.htm), a joint BEA/NSF project (see Survey of Current Business article http://www.bea.gov/bea/dn/home/satellite_natl.htm). We look forward to continue to collaborate as we move forward on indicators development and wish you the best in the New Year.
