Otay Mesa, Calif. – The dedicated Secure Electronic Network for Traveler’s Rapid Inspection lane at the Otay Mesa passenger port of entry will stay open an additional two hours on weekday evenings beginning Monday, August 4, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials announced.

The fast-pass vehicle lane will open at 5 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. Monday through Friday to accommodate increased membership growth in the San Diego/Tijuana area.

The hours of operation of the SENTRI lane currently are 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Weekend and holiday hours of the dedicated lane remain unchanged at 5 a.m. to midnight.

Approximately 20 percent of all passenger vehicles entering the U.S. through the Otay Mesa and nearby San Ysidro ports utilize a SENTRI lane. The San Ysidro border station currently has up to four SENTRI lanes.

The general use vehicle lanes at both facilities are open around the clock.

There are 100,820 SENTRI participants currently enrolled in the San Diego/Tijuana region, officials said.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation's borders at and between the official ports of entry. CBP is charged with keeping terrorists and terrorist weapons out of the country while enforcing hundreds of U.S. laws.
