Weatherization and Intergovernmental Program Overview

The efficient use of energy and increased use of renewable energy is key to lower energy bills in homes and workplaces, less pollution in our cities, and increased energy security.

NREL's Weatherization and Intergovernmental Program provides U.S. and international consumers and decision makers with technical assistance and information to accelerate the use of energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies. Through this program, NREL partners with a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including state and local governments, auto companies, fleet managers, building and facility managers, tribal governments, weatherization agencies, and other countries and international agencies.

Under the Weatherization and Intergovermental Program, NREL provides technical support for DOE's Clean Cities, International, Rebuild America, State Energy, Tribal Energy, Weatherization, and other related programs. NREL also implements related programs for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and other domestic and international clients and helps DOE leverage its resources with support from these other agencies. This includes implementation of environmental programs supported jointly by DOE and other sponsors.

NREL's technology, applications, resource assessment, analysis, project development, and policy experience make it a valued partner in these local, national, and international efforts to advance the use of EERE technologies.
