International Wheat Quality Conference,

From Molecular Improvement to Consumer Needs

Invitation

We are very pleased to invite you to the International Wheat Quality Conference, From Molecular Improvement to Consumer Need, which will take place in Beijing from 29 to 31 May 2004. The conference will bring together scientists from fields such as functional genomics, genetics, breeding, agronomy, cereal chemistry, food processing, as well as major stakeholders in the wheat industry. The event will provide a unique opportunity to understand the needs of the wheat processing industry and consumers, and to learn of recent progress in wheat quality research achieved through the application of a range of technologies, from conventional breeding to genomics.

Beijing is the capital city of China, the largest wheat producer and consumer in the world. Several of China’s national research institutes involved in wheat research are located in Beijing. The Capital of six dynasties, Beijing has a unique history and culture, and is at the same time a dynamic and modern city, busy preparing for the 2008 Olympic Games.

The conference is scheduled in a season with a pleasant warm climate, and it will be the best time both for visiting wheat fields and for tourism. Therefore, in addition to the oral and poster presentations, a field visit to wheat breeding program, and cultural program and tours for spouses will also be included. We are committed to having a successful conference with excellence in science and a pleasant experience for all participants.

We look forward to welcoming you to Beijing in May 2004.
