Subject: CoastWatch MODIS/Aqua ocean color products delay - Issued 27 Jan 2008 Topic: CoastWatch MODIS/Aqua ocean color products delay Message Issued: January 27, 2008 0110 UTC (January 26, 2008 2010 Eastern Time) Satellites Impacted: MODIS/Aqua (NASA) Products Impacted: Operational (MODIS/Aqua) CoastWatch ocean color products Date/Time of Initial Outage: January 26, 2008 ~1124 UTC ----------------------------------------- Details: NOAA MODIS/Aqua hardware at Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) lost power Saturday morning, January 26, 2008. As a result, CoastWatch ocean color products generated by the Okeanos system from MODIS/Aqua data for day 2008026 are delayed. NOAA MODIS operations and maintenance (O&M) personnel provided the following information: “Around 5am we lost power to all our servers at GSFC NASA. Below is a detailed message of what happen. Power has been restored. When task personnel arrived at GSFC NASA all our servers were manually rebooted. Bubbles initally had problems re-booting but is now unline. We will be back processing the full 8 hrs of AIRS & AMSR-E. MODIS will be online shortly. We will attempt to back process the last 8 hrs for the AQUA Satellite. Building 32’s UPS 5 has experienced a fault on Saturday, 1/26/8 at approximately 6:24 AM. The unit failed to automatically switch to bypass, causing a loss of the load on UPS 5. As of 7:15 AM, UPS 5 is currently in MAINTENANCE BYPASS, meaning it is supplying strictly utility power with no battery backup.
