There are currently three mechanisms for interfacing laboratory automated instruments to the Laboratory Information System. Please see the DHCP Technical Manual for specific instructions and limitations for these interface options:

• Direct Connect
  - unidirectional or bidirectional
  - requires an instrument specific routine to process data
  - functional with Laboratory Package version 5.1 or 5.2
  

• LSI - unidirectional or bidirectional
  - requires an instrument specific routine to process data
  - functional with Laboratory Package version 5.1 or 5.2
  

• Universal Interface
  - unidirectional or bidirectional
  - DOES NOT require an instrument specific routine to process data
  - requires Laboratory Package version 5.2

  - Dawning Technologies
