Briar Bottom Group is adjacent to Black Mountain Campground. Access is available through the main gate at Black Mountain Campground.

This is a tent only campground. No wheeled camping units or RV's are permitted. Limited parking available.

4-day minimum reservation window. One night minimum on weekends (Friday - Saturday nights). Daily fees are for 1 - 50 persons and 10 autos maximum per site. Flush toilets are available, no showers in restroom. Coin operated showers are available at Black Mountain.

Campground. No public address systems are allowed for use in the group sites. Fires permitted in fire ring only and cannot exceed the size of the fire ring.

Campground is open from 7am - 10pm. Please notify campground of late arrivals by calling (828) 675-5616.

From Asheville, NC: Take I-26 W to x 9, onto 19E to Burnsville. Follow 19E to Micaville on Hwy 80S. Follow Hwy 80S approximately 12 - 14 miles to Mount Mitchell Golf Course. Turn Right on South Toe River Road; follow signs to Black Mountain Campground.

From Johnson City, TN: Follow I-26E to NC x 9, onto 19E to Burnsville. Follow 19E to Micaville on Hwy 80S. Follow Hwy 80S approximately 12 - 14 miles to Mount Mitchell Golf Course. Turn Right on South Toe River Road; follow signs to Black Mountain Campground.

From I-40W: Take x 86 onto Hwy 226N to Marion, NC. Continue toward Spruce Pine until you reach the Blue Ridge Parkway. Take the Parkway south to Hwy 80, approximately 12 miles. Follow Hwy 80N toward Burnsville approximately 4 miles. Turn left on South Toe River Road; follow signs to Black Mountain Campground.

From I-40E: Take Hwy 70 through Old Fort, NC to Hwy 226N to Marion, NC. Continue toward Spruce Pine until you reach the Blue Ridge Parkway. Take the Parkway south to Hwy 80, approximately 12 miles. Follow Hwy 80N toward Burnsville approximately 4 miles. Turn left on South Toe River Road; follow signs to Black Mountain Campground.
