Vanessa cardui [Nymphalidae]


Dorsum black with white spots; base of primary setae (which are spines in this species) orange; venter off-white with irregular black markings; white hairs covering the body. This species is common and feeds on species of Asteraceae such as Canadian thistle, during July and August.
