Name: Peng Lai
Host: Michael Hu

Peng Lai attends the University of Cincinnati and is majoring in Material Science. She plans to graduate in June 2006 and is working on her MS degree now. She is from Chengdu, China and this is her first time in Tennessee and he first time at ORNL. The project she is working on is a Molecular self-assembly project. When she’s not at the lab she enjoys watching movies, traveling, reading, and chatting.

Michael Hu expands on the work from his intern Peng Lai:

Peng's work involves hands-on research in a frontier research area such as nanotechnology, which offers a great educational experience to students. After receiving proper training, students could become a valuable resource to support the research and development at ORNL. Creativity of young mind is nurtured and potentially lead to new discoveries. Summer internship program brings into ORNL not only new faces but also new talented minds.

Peng Lai is studying the nanoscale effect on moledular self-assembly phenomena.
