FRDO2167: Top Hat
Black, fur-covered hat. Black grosgrain ribbon encircles base of crown, gorsgrain ribbon. Interior lined with white silk, maker's emblem in black includes crown, lion, spears and wording: SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE/ELLWOOD/AND/ SONS/BEST/LONDON/DIEU ET MOIN D..T. Interior missing great deal of lining; missing inner banding; underside of brim very worn and frayed; grosgrain ribbon around brim edges worn; some fraying of fur on brim.
This item is displayed at the historic site in the Library (Study).
