Proposals to Amend Soil Taxonomy

There are new proposals to amend Soil Taxonomy, but they are not available for review at this time. The comment period for the proposals posted in 2007 and 2008 has closed. None of the revisions from the 2007-2008 sets of proposals will become effective until they first have been approved for use by the National Leader for Soil Survey Standards and then will appear in the eleventh edition of the Keys to Soil Taxonomy. The eleventh edition of the Keys is tentatively scheduled for publication and release in the fall of 2009. For more details on the status of individual proposals, please direct inquiries to Mr. Craig Ditzler, National Leader for Soil Survey Standards, at Craig.Ditzler@lin.usda.gov.
