Terry Announces New Staff in Omaha and Washington

Kristin Durbin

Washington – Congressman Terry today announced the hiring of Tory Lucas as his new District Office Director, effective June 4, 2007.

Lucas is an accomplished attorney, former USAF JAG officer, and most recently a visiting professor at Creighton’s School of Law.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Culver-Stockton College; a Juris Doctor degree from Creighton University; and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

“Tory’s extensive experience and expertise will be great assets as he directs operations in my Omaha office, including federal casework and communications,” Terry said.  Tory and his wife, Megan, who is president of the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce, live in Bellevue.

Lucas replaces Molly Lloyd, District Director since 1999.  She and her husband, Mark, have two children, one and five years old, with whom she is looking forward to dedicating her time.  Lloyd will also work part time at the campaign office.

Terry also announced the recent promotion of Caroline Baird to Legislative Director in Washington, D.C.  Baird has worked for Congressman Terry since 1999, most recently as his Senior Legislative Assistant for appropriations, defense, education and other issues.  She has coordinated several pieces of Terry’s legislation, including the “Parents’ Tax Relief Act,” the “State and Local Education Flexibility Act” and the “Montgomery G.I. Bill Improvement Act."

“Caroline is dedicated and trustworthy, and she has a talented understanding of conservative principles and legislative process,” Terry said.  “I greatly appreciate her continued counsel and service.”

Also recently hired as Legislative Assistant for agriculture, energy and environment in the Washington, D.C. office is Steven Berry.  Berry is a native Nebraskan who previously worked for Congressman Jim Nussle of Iowa; served in the Bush Administration; and was Policy Director for the Pete Ricketts’ campaign.  Berry received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin American Studies at the University of Chicago and a Master of Science degree in Public Administration and Public Policy from the London School of Economics.

Other recent staff changes are Kristin Durbin, Communications Director since March, and Jessica Lohr, hired in March as Terry’s Legislative Correspondent.  Durbin is a 2003 graduate of the University of Kentucky in Lexington.  She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and lives in La Vista.  Lohr is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a bachelor’s degree in political science and is working toward a master’s degree in political science at UNO.  She and her husband, Dan, live in Bellevue.
