You must have read ./README and completed installing/updating
all rpms provided here.

Configure LAS is easy:

(1) become root

(2) get in csh or tcsh, do
# source /usr/local/ferret/ferret_paths

(3) start httpd daemon
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd start

(4) start mysqld daemon
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysqld start

(5) keep in mind that
The location of MySQL installation is /usr

(6) untar las5.0.tar.gz or similar and run
# ./configure
or
# ./configure -compare
