Recovery efforts for the federally endangered black-footed ferret have involved a broad and dedicated mélange of scientists, resource management agencies, private organizations, zoos, and volunteers. The USGS co-hosted a 2004 national symposium that brought these people together to share the latest findings and information related to the ferret recovery program, including management of captive populations, re-establishment of wild ferret populations, and factors limiting recovery, such as plague. The proceedings documenting this body of knowledge, Recovery of the Black-footed Ferret: Progress and Continuing Challenges, is now available online.
