Please be specific in equipment requests. If you have any questions about what's available, contact me. I forgot to mention before that there are Iomega Jazz drives on the computers, so if you have lots of data to download, bring disks. There is a spare antenna for cellular phones located in the wet lab on the main deck. Please bring your own cell phones for communicating with your home base, colleagues, spouse, significant others, etc. The cell phones in the pilot house are for ship's business only. It is restricted to use concerning the ship to the master, myself, and the chief scientist. Project concerns are to be discussed on your cell phones. Also, if you have any concerns with technical assistance, please forward all requests and comments to me. I will be using several different people for technical assistance on the ship. Another issue, which seems insignificant, but quickly blows out of proportion is vegetarianism. We do need to know the number of "veggies" on each cruise leg. the main course will consist of a meat dish and a vegetarian dish. We can't accomodate 14 different orders, and if you're a carnivore, we'd appreciate you staying carnivore unless the steward is alerted at least a day in advance. I will have the steward posting menus. You need to let him know if you will be skipping a meal. Thankxxx You can't believe how quickly these things can become major problems when everyone is tired and cranky, and maybe sick. I apologize if this causes inconvenience, but the cooking area is the size of an efficiency in midtown Manhattan - - small to non-existant For your information, Bob Nauta did retire at the end of December, but had a stroke three weeks prior to his retirement. physically, he is fine, but he did loose some memory, which seems to be coming back with time.
