Hair as an Oil Absorber

Question -   Can hair be used as an oil absorber?

I am sure it could, but I am not sure why one would want to. Treated clays
like vermiculite, commercial products such as "oil dry", or even kitty
litter are much more absorbent on a weight/weight basis.
