Plaques, tables, and other terracotta objects (masks) with relief decoration. Approximate date: 6th c. to 4th c. B.C.

This example is a tablet (pinax) made of terracotta and decorated in molded relief and painted. The scene is a represenatation of the rape of Persephone. Significant are the votive tables produced in Lokri in the 5th c. B.C. for the cult practiced at the Manella Sanctuary. These reliefs were exported to Sicily and Sardinia. Types of decoration include liturgical rites, images of the gods, and Hades kidnapping Persephone.
