Habitat: Grassland, mostly gravelly areas. Host: Dicots, same as for H. magnificus. Adults Present: June-September. Notes: Like H. magnificus, but more pale, with only three bands on tegmina; tegmina not spotted at tip. Base of inner hind femora blue. Wings often proportionally shorter. Not economically important. Distribution in New Mexico: Bemalillo, Catron, Grant, Hidalgo, Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Sandoval, Sierra, Socorro, Taos, Valencia. Habitat: Riparian; gravelly areas. Host: Forbs, algae. Adults Present: July-November. Notes: Very common band wing with distinct bands on tegniina; lacking bands on hind wing; basal area of hind wings pinkish; hind legs proximally white, followed by narrow black band; distal half red-orange.
