Single Crystal Diffractometer - User Info

2008 TOPAZ/MaNDi IDT Meeting

The meeting is planned to start at 1pm on Friday 30th May in downtown Knoxville and directly preceeds the start of the 2008 ACA meeting.

Talks on the current status of both instruments will be presented. For MaNDi there will be a discussion of the design criteria document that will be submitted at the CD-II review, which is penciled in for October 2008. This document will be sent out around the beginning of May in a draft form.

For TOPAZ we will show the state of instrument construction. We have completed 70 % of the design including all major components and hutch. We will discuss the instrument support facilities including sample preparation and control room. We anticipate this to be an area where users needs of both instruments, MaNDi and TOPAZ, heavily overlap and the input of the joint IDT’s will be highly appreciated to maximize space and equipment sharing.

The Instrument Development Team (IDT)

The TOPAZ IDT is actively involved in important design decisions. Scientists interested in neutron scattering are encouraged to join and participate. The core is established by the Executive Committee which coordinates the input of the IDT members and distributes updates on a regular basis to IDT members, advisors and researchers interested in the instrument progress. Please send an email to Christina Hoffmann if you want to learn more about the IDT.
