Title: |
Design of a Welded Fixture for Space Station Acoustic Testing
|
Author(s): |
Boyles, Lawrence; Nolen, Christy
|
Abstract: |
The NASA Space Station Program Office requested the design of a test fixture to hold, transport, and rotate to vertical Space Station Truss segments for Acoustic testing. The fixture is used in the Vibration and Acoustic Test Facility (Building 49) at the Johnson Space Center. The emphasis of this paper is the unique Design of the Fixture as a welded structure and not its fabrication. The fixture was successfully used for the acoustic testing of the S0 truss segment in December 1998.
