Summary:
Name Burgess oolite applied to interval 200 ft below top of Bangor limestone in Russellville district. Variable in thickness (ranges from 0 to 40 ft) and physical properties. Occurs in Franklin Co. and western part of Lawrence Co. Overlies and underlies blue fossiliferous Bangor limestones. Type locality at Burgess quarry. Rockwood oolite in Bangor limestone also named in this report.
