(Thursday, February 12, 2009)

contacts for this news release

Washington - The arrest of Jesus Navarro-Montes is welcome news for the men and women of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Border Patrol badge symbolizing fallen comrades.
Since the CBP family tragically lost one of its own with the brutal and senseless death of Border Patrol Agent Luis Aguilar, we have worked tirelessly with our federal and Mexican law enforcement partners to ensure that all suspects be apprehended. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of all those involved with the arrest of Navarro-Montes, we and Agent Aguilar’s family can rest assured that this suspect is in custody and will receive the justice that is due.

On behalf of all of the men and women of CBP and the entire DHS family, we want to express our deep appreciation to the Department of Justice family, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Attorney's Office and the U.S. Marshals Service and to the Government of Mexico for this bi-national effort to bring Navarro Montes to justice. With his arrest, we look forward to the day that he will be extradited and tried, and justice will finally be served.
