Lincoln Memorial
Dedicated to our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, this memorial is one of the
most impressive sights in Washington. Park Rangers will present a brief lecture
upon request.

Washington Monument
The famous marble obelisk, honoring America’s first president, is the
tallest structure in the nation’s capital. Elevators take you to the
top of the 555 foot monument; lines are usually long but move quickly. Tickets
are required and can be picked up free of charge, only
on the day of , at the kiosk located on the grounds. The Parks Service notes
that kiosk tickets
often
run
out early, so advanced ticketing is encouraged. Walk Down tours where visitors
may descend the internal stairway and view the
stone
contributions
from every
state
are
available by request, call
in advance.

Jefferson Memorial
The Jefferson Memorial celebrates the architectural and governmental influence
of our country’s second president. A small lake called the Tidal Basin
is located at the foot of the memorial. The area the center of attention
during the annual Cherry Blossom Festival.

Vietnam Memorial
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial honors the men and women of the Armed Forces
who served in Vietnam.

Created to honor "women of the Armed Forces of the United States
who served
in the Republic of Vietnam during the Vietnam Era."

National
World War II Memorial
The National World War II Memorial is the newest and last memorial to be
constructed on the Mall. It is "dedicated to the 16 million who served in
the Armed Forces,
the
400,000 who died, and those who supported at home." Opened in April 2004. The
memorial
is
located
at
the
eastern
end
of
the
Reflecting
Pool
between the Lincoln Memorial and Washington Monument.

Arlington
National Cemetery
Located in Virginia, Arlington National Cemetery is a working cemetery and
the final resting place of thousands of American soldiers, sailors, and airmen.
The
cemetery is accessible by car,
Metro, TourMobile, or Old Town Trolley. Open to the public.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
Changing of the guard on the hour from October 1 to March 14 and on the half-hour

FDR Memorial
This memorial is dedicated to our 32nd president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt
(FDR).

Korean War Veterans Memorial
The Korean War Veterans Memorial consists of 19 statues of U.S. ground
troopers equipped for battle moving toward an American flag. Etched into
the granite
of this memorial are photographs of hundreds of faces taken from military
archives.

Iwo Jima Memorial
This memorial depicts one of the most famous events of World War II and stands
as a symbol of this nation’s reverence for the honored dead of the
U.S. Marine Corps. This memorial is on the grounds of Arlington National
Cemetery
and accessible 24 hours a day.
The U.S. Navy Memorial
This memorial centers on a circular plaza bearing a large stone map of the
world. The
Visitor Center contains impressive artwork, a Ship’s Store, and an
interactive video display of every ship and aircraft in the Navy.

Japanese
American Internment Camp Memorial
Built on a triangular park bordered by New Jersey and Louisiana Avenues and
D Street NW, (between the Capitol and Union Station) this memorial honors
the Japanese Americans who were sent to internment camps during World War
II and
those who fought for the U.S. Armed Forces.
