Albuquerque Aquarium - Take a fascinating journey through the marine habitats of the Gulf of Mexico--salt marsh, eelgrass meadow, surf zone, coral reef, open ocean. You'll encounter 6-foot moray eels, spiny lobsters, shimmering schooling fish, beaky parrotfish, fluttering butterflyfish, and, yes, plenty of toothy sharks: nurse sharks, sandtigers, bonnetheads and browns.

Coronado Monument - Historic Landmark - Located on a strategic high bluff is the abandoned indian Kuaua Pueblo. The legendary explorer Coronado came here in 1540 on his search for the Seven Cities of Cibola and stayed for nearly a year. Ecavated in the 1930's this site contains over 1,200 rooms and five ceremonial kivas. There is a park campground located amongst the ruins.

U.N.M. Geology Museum - Part of the Earth Science Division - 22 exhibits explain the makeup of minerals, the geology of the earth and different geological periods.

Indian Pueblo Cultural Center - Museum and arts and crafts market recreating the history and culture of New Mexico's 19 pueblos. A truly great collection of high quality native arts, crafts and dress.

Jonson Gallery - Unit of the University of New Mexico Art Museums that is dedicated primarily to the works of Raymond Jonson (1891-1982), a modernist painter and faculty member. Other exhibits regularly rotate through here.
Raymond Jonson is widely accredited in bringing modern art into New Mexico. The gallery was opened in Jonson in 1950 as a monument to modern art.

Maxwell Museum of Anthropology - this collections holds over 10 million items that focus on the archaeological, ethnological, archival, photo and skeletal history of the world and its cultures. Special emphasis given on the Southwest.

Meteorite Museum - Part of the Earth Science Division - Exhibits meteorites collected from around the world. Other exhibits explain space and planetary science. Included is the world's second largest stone meteorite and the one-ton "Norton County" meteorite.

Mission San Agustin - Historic Landmark - this church was started in 1613 by Fray Juan de Salas, but badly burned in during the Pueblo Rebellion. The church was rebuilt after the reconquest of 1692 and has been in constant use since.

Museum of Art & Science - The country's first solar heated museum depicts great displays about the 400 year history of the Rio Grande Valley. Museum also includes children's exhibits, sculpture garden and other items of art, history and science.

Museum Natural History & Science - Dioramas and exhibits explore the geological history of the American Southwest./ Dinosaurs, fossils, geology, volcanoes, natural history, and astronomy: If you are curious about any of these, a visit to the New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science will nurture your sense of wonder! The Museum is accredited by the American Association of Museums.

National Atomic Museum - America's museum resource for nuclear science. Traces the history of the development of nuclear weapons through exhibits, displays, artifacts and documentaries telling the story of the atomic age. Learn about diverse applications of nuclear energy, radiation, and the pioneers of the nuclear age. A special 53-minute documentary film about the Manhattan Project is shown daily.

Old Town Plaza - Take a walk through history around Albuquerque Old Town Plaza, the serene village that has been the focal point of community life since 1706.  Quiet hidden patios, winding brick paths, gardens and balconies are waiting to be discovered. Wrought iron and adobe benches beckon you to rest in the shade and watch people stroll by. Visit historic San Felipe de Neri Church and relax in the Rose Garden.
Shopping in Old Town is truly a delightful experience. Unique items from around the world, as well as those that are distinctly Southwestern, can be found in more than 100 shops, boutiques and galleries. Old Town Plaza is the original village settlement dating back to 1706.
Petroglyph Nat'l Monument - Scenic Landmark - This 7,100-acre preserve along the western escarpment is one of the largest sources of indian pictographs in the country. Since 1300 A.D., Native Americans have come here to inscribe their story on these great black rocks and hold special ceremonies. Over 17,000 pictographs are found here in the base of lava rock underneath a series of volcanoes. Look for the visitor center and Boca Negra Canyon trail.

Rio Grande Botanical Gardens - Our state-of-the-art glass conservatory filters heat producing UV rays and blooms year round--with xeric species in the Desert Pavilion, aromatic species in the Mediterranean Pavilion. A trio of walled gardens salutes Old World design in fountains, tile, herbs and roses. Future construction will create a whimsical Children's Fantasy Garden.

Rio Grande Zoo - . . . a world-class institution . . . in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Rocky outcrops, grassy meadows, towering cottonwoods, shimmering waterfalls and tranquil pools create an oasis for exotic and native species. Southwest Biology Museum - Castetter Hall (Biology -#21) / By appointment only.
Collection of vertebrates, anthropods, and plants of the American Southwest, Central and South America and throughout the world. In December 2000, the museum is moving to a new location. It is grouped in the following divisions:
* Division of Amphibians and Reptiles - over 65,000 specimens (505) 277-5130;
* Division of Anthropods - over 200,000 specimens, mostly from the American Southwest - (505) 277-4225;
* Division of Biological Materials - 85,000 frozen specimens of vertebrate and invertebrates - (505) 277-6715;

Tamarind Institute - Art Gallery - Combination learning institute and gallery with special two-year program has attracted master artists from around the world. International acclaimed center for fine art lithography, whose main purpose is to train master printers and contributes to contemporary printmaking developments.

University Art Museum - Exhibit rated as the fifth largest collection of photographs in the country, including journalistic photography and avant-garde.

Car rental shuttles provide transportation between the terminal building and the Car Rental Center. Shuttles run every 5 minutes from the commercial lane located outside the 1st level of the airport terminal building.
