RE: Tip of the Week - Importing FISAP Edit Report

This week's tip highlights a feature or process in the FISAP for Windows software: Importing FISAP Edit Report

On November 15, the FISAP processor will finish sending edit files (message class FISA00OP) to the Title IV WAN mailboxes of those institutions that submitted FISAP data. These files will need to be drawn down using EDConnect and imported into your FISAP for Windows Version 1.0 software.

To import this edit file, go to File/Import and select Edit Report for your Import Type. When selecting the FISA00OP file to import, be sure to select the file in your data directory with the highest numeric extension. This will ensure you do not re-import any prior year data you received initially.

On the import screen, there are checkboxes for the options to "Print Edit Compare Report?" and/or "Overwrite Current FISAP Data?". We recommend you first import your FISA00OP file with only the first option activated. If you find data exceptions while reviewing the comparison report, you can reimport the same FISA00OP file with the second option activated and update your database as needed.

Unlike other EDE import files, FISAP edit files are not renamed from OP to BK after import, so you can continue to select the higher extensions of FISA00OP for reimport as needed.

Once you have verified all edits sent to you by the FISAP processor, you should re-export your FISAP report and transmit the new FISA00IN file. The deadline for this second submission is December 15.
