MICHIGAN – Two Michigan Wing squadrons came together once again this year to help celebrate the end of festivities honoring of the U.S. Coast Guard by marching in the festival parade that has been an annual event in Grand Haven, Mich., since 1924 -- the only known event of its kind celebrating the Coast Guard.   

Members of the Muskegon Composite and Boulle-Norman Cadet squadrons march in the 84th annual Grand Haven, Mich., parade honoring the U.S. Coast Guard.

The televised procession, which follows a parade route that winds its way through the heart of Grand Haven , is one of the highlights of the 10-day festival celebrating the Coast guard. Each year more than 100,000 people line the parade route, including visitors from all over the nation.

Grand Haven, next to Lake Michigan, is known as “Coast Guard City, USA." It annually sponsors the Coast Guard Festival around the last week of July ending around the first weekend of August.
