    The table and interactive (clickable) map below illustrates the Major Land Resource Areas (MLRA's) in the Southern Plains. Clicking on an area of the map will link to descriptions of the MLRA's in the Southern Plains.  To resume the short course on Southern Plains resources use the "Back" button on your browser to return to this page.  The MLRA's fall into the Land Resource Regions (LRR's) of H and part of J.  Clicking on the map or links below will display the definitions of the MLRA's. The USDA's Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) develops the definitions and maps of the LRR's and MLRA's.

       The an interactive map showing the most recent LRR's and MLRA's can be found at the National Soil Survey Center web site.  In many cases new subdivisions of existing MLRA's are being created.
