Senator Susan Collins, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today announced that Bushmaster Firearms International, LLC, Inc. of Windham has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Army totaling $5,411,132.  The contact is for the production of 5,500 Bushmaster rifles and additional equipment.  All work related to this contract will be done in Maine.  The contract is expected to be completed by November of this year.

 

            “I am pleased that the Army has awarded this contract to a Maine company,” said Senator Collins.  “The Army continues to look at Bushmaster for state of the art equipment on which our military relies.”

 

            Bushmaster Firearms is headquartered in Windham, and employs more than 140 people.
