² The Derris root respiration studies were carried out in 1947 to 1949 by one of the authors (Hageman) while employed at the Federal Experiment Station (USDA), Mayaguez. Puerto Rico. The remainder of the work was done at Urbana and represents a portion of an M.S. thesis of the senior author. This latter work was supported by Atomic Energy Commission contract AT (11-1) 790 and by National Science Foundation Grant No. 4407.
