Working After Retirement on a When Actually Employed (WAE) Basis(Close)

How do I sign up for the WAE Global Registry?

You may register for the WAE Global Registry either through EP+ Professional Profile for Retired Employees or through EP+ for Retiring Employees (within HR Online), both of which allow you to maintain your skills inventory and indicate interest in post-retirement employment opportunities.

For employees who are retiring and who already have an EP+ profile, on the EP+ Update page:

On the bottom there is a sentence that says "If HR/RET has approved your application for retirement, click here."  This takes you directly to the WAE Global Registry page.  Once you have clicked on the box indicating your interest in working WAE, you have registered for the WAE Global Registry.  You may also note your interest in participation in the Operational Readiness Reserve (ORR) and Standby Response Corps.

For employees who are retired:

EP+ is available at www.RNet.state.gov.  Open your RNet account.  After the log-in go to the column on the left side:  Post-Retirement Employment Opportunities.

Click and it will start the process by opening the WAE Global Registry.  You will have then an opportunity to indicate interest in the Standby Response Corps and then may complete an EP+ Professional Profile.

Please note that after signing up for the WAE Global Registry, you must follow up with the bureaus for which you are interested in working.

See AskRNet’s question #5666 “Once I’ve registered in RNet’s WAE Global Registry, do I need to do anything further to pursue employment?” for more information.  NOTE:  To access numbered AskRNet questions, enter the question number into the search field and press GO.

For additional information on Reemployment with the Department, including on a WAE basis, go to AskRNet.  Open the Reemployment Folder and you will find complete information on questions related to reemployment.

How do I obtain a copy of my earnings and leave statement for WAE positions?

Just go to Employee Express either through e-phone on the Department’s intranet site or www.employeeexpress.gov on the internet.  The process is the same one you used to access your E&L statements before you retired.

You will be asked to enter your Social Security Number and a Personal Identification Number (PIN) issued by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).  You can change your PIN the first time you log on.  Remember, this PIN is not the same one you use to access your monthly annuity statements through RNet.

If you wish to know how much you can earn as a WAE employee before you reach your salary/annuity limit, you can request an audit from the Retirement Accounts Division. Send your request to RAD2@state.gov.
