The Cataloging Policy and Support Office's mission is to provide leadership in the
creation and implementation of cataloging policy within the Library of Congress and in the
national and international library community; support the effectiveness of the cataloging staff at
the Library of Congress through guidance, advice on cataloging policy and maintenance of
bibliographic, authority, and classification records; develop and support national and
international standards for structure and content of bibliographic, authority, and classification
records through cooperative endeavors.
